SolarDjangui is a green entrepreneurship program for rural women initiated by the Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) in 2022. The initiative was launched by CECOSDA following a project that distributed 4,600 solar lighting kits in 46 remote villages in Cameroon, in partnership with the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), Schneider Electric Foundation, Fondation de France, and the KIMSO research firm. This project relied on rural women and achieved great success. A survey conducted in partnership with KIMSO revealed a significant need for energy solutions in local communities and a great opportunity offered by solar energy for the empowerment of rural women. This led CECOSDA, whose goals include empowering women and promoting sustainable development, to establish the SolarDjangui initiative. The word "Djangui" is a local Cameroonian concept that refers to an informal gathering of people in Cameroon who come together to financially support each other and promote mutual development.
